I don't have any concrete plans (yet) for a general sketching app.

One of the benefits of focussing on a diagramming app is that the user  
interface can be much simpler, since you are then constrained in what  
you can do e.g. if the app handles layout for you, you don't have to  
cater an interface for moving objects around on the canvas -- so the  
interface for sketching new shapes and links, scrolling etc. is more  
straightforward for the user.

If you do concept sketches and can live with some simple re- 
arrangement by the system, you could try out the mindmap-like layout  
function in Instaviz.
