There isn't any manual control on node placement. You will probably
get less cross-over changing the Layout to hierarchical (dot) [1st
option] and the Flow to left to right, see the screenshot:

Alternatively if you've chosen the Layout to be spring model (neato)
[2nd option], try cutting some of the links so it is more of a
classical mind map. You can remove a link by selecting it in Edit
mode, then shaking the device.
Instaviz is focussed on automated layout, because we don't always have
the full attention to give to arrange a manual layout when working
with a mobile device, unlike say with a desktop app like Graphviz,
Omnigraffle or Visio. It's really for being able to quickly put
together some ideas and maybe do a little finessing of the results.
