I'm working with a feature of iPhone 3.0 that may allow shapes to be
rendered without the current lag: at the moment when you scroll and
zoom, new areas are checkerboarded until rendered. So when you
autoscroll, the checkboarding means you can't see where you are
scrolling to past a certain point.
You can workaround the issue by wiggling your fingertip slightly while
autoscrolling, this should cause a refresh of the checkboard and you
will see the graph at that point.
Was that the issue you were noting?

I had planned to incorporate a proper file menu at the Graph lists
level to handle all the file-related commands, and keep them out of
the individual graphs. Besides improving the user interface, this
would allow you to batch delete, duplicate, export or email your
graphs, much like the batch operations in Mail and Photos.

I spruced up the icons from Glyphify set and aligned them to the
system icon positions. On the top: File/Done (or maybe Edit/Done if
it's not too confusing with the graph-level edit) and Add/Import
(changes to the cloudy import icon when you tap File). On the bottom:
delete, duplicate, preview, email and export.
Unfortunately I had to pull this for 1.4 since it would have taken too
long to get right, it should make its way into 1.5 though, along with
a CoverFlow-like preview of graphs at that level when you orient the
iPhone horizontally. I had to release 1.4 early to fix the scrolling
bug in iPhone 3.0.
