One can download a fully functional trial version from Microsoft which will function for 60
days.
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/visio/default.aspx

To test with Microsoft Visio, when working on Apple OS X, one could for example
run a Windows virtual machine (Parallels, VMWare, ...) on it and install Microsoft Visio on it.

with friendly greetings,

Subject: [instaviz-users] Visio

Hi All

Any Visio users out there?

I'm thinking of writing a Visio exporter, which due to the nature of
the beast would probably end up in the AT&T Graphviz sources. It's a
non-trivial exercise so I'd really like to see how much demand there
is for this:

1.    Visio doesn't have pure Bezier curves apparently, you can use NURBS
(NUBS?) to approximate them. Beziers feature prominently in the
Graphviz renditions (and hence the Instaviz renditions).
2.    There's a free Visio viewer but obviously the app itself comes at a
cost.
3.    The schema is documented but samples and tutorials seem hard to
come by, almost necessitating working with the Visio application itself.

If you do use Visio would you be willing to work closely with me on a
Visio exporter?

Cheers, Glen Low
