[instaviz-users] Advertising -- is it worthwhile?

Yes I agree word of mouth will be powerful tool. Also it is important to continually improve the program so that you create the impression to be the number 1 graphics tool out there. Myself I use ibluesky for creating charts. Nothing wrong with more than one tool.
I'd say I am now standardizing on Instaviz and ibluesky. I will keep those if I see that both are being updated continuously. Otherwise you risk losing ground to the next guy with a new application.
Also try and be available on twitter for your forum or even announcements. Twitter can create a great deal of circulation and noise if I may use that term for you.

Knud and Luc made strong points. Most web sites that cover iPhone and iPhone apps tend to focus on games and amusement. Check out the 148-lists on 148apps.com (148 best apps, best selling aps, a.s.o.), nothing but games, flutes and farts. I suggest you focus on the more serious sites like iphoneclub.nl (see their article on Instaviz: http://www.iphoneclub.nl/21934/indruk-maken-met-iphone-diagrammen-van-instaviz/), iPhonecentral on Macworld and the like.
What also works, albeit slowly, is mouth to mouth. Lots of people in my line of work use iPhones, and will be interested in Instaviz. I will show them Instaviz, of course, and I am sure more Instaviz users will do the same. ;)

Hi All
Been thinking through several strategies for getting Instaviz "out
there".
As a buyer or potential buyer of Instaviz and other iPhone apps, what
led you to buy it? Do you consult other websites, Google, newsgroups
etc. before making your decision, or was it solely or mostly based
within the App Store system?
As a fellow developer of iPhone apps, what strategies have you used to
promote your product?
Cheers, Glen Low
