Hi All
Here's what's happening with Instaviz the last week before App Store
submission:
Saturday 22: Release 0.3
-- This should fulfill the graph/node/edge setting milestone
-- Include Sean, Rui and Beau's iPhone UDID so they can play too
Monday 24 or Tuesday 25
-- Release candidate 1 i.e. feature complete, only bug fixes from now
on
Thursday 27 or Friday 28
-- Release candidate 2 i.e. the version I'll be submitting to the App
Store, provided no further bugs
-- Youtube video?
Monday 1
-- App Store submission :-)
Things you can help with ***NOW***
-- Need to test vs. the new iPhone 2.2 software. You may need to go
through all the functions you thought were OK against the new
operating system.
(I'm trying not to upgrade to 2.2 yet because I don't want to
destabilize my development environment during this last week.)
-- Language localization. I have a small file that I've love
translated into non-English languages, so if any of you speak French,
German, Chinese etc. you could help.
-- Youtube videos. I have a camera and the inclination but it would
help reduce my final load if one of you could volunteer to shoot a
video and submit it to Youtube. All the better that it looks all viral
and homemade :-)
(I'm thinking of an opening shot of someone sketching a graph on
lined paper and getting frustrated with it, then somehow moving to
using Instaviz on the iPhone and just show the sketching bits and
labelling.)
-- Forum + blog + tweet publicity. Now's the time to start talking up
Instaviz online, if you have the opportunity to.
What will happen after launch
-- the mailing list will continue on after the launch, but the
joining and archives will be public. You guys will be the core of the
new user group!
-- the trac site will continue on as well and continue to be open to
all mailing list members. I may reduce the wiki privileges though,
depending on how big the group gets.
-- I'll continue to provide updated versions of Instaviz, but these
will be limited to the first 50 testers (hint: I'm close to that limit
now), i.e. for you guys I will keep it free for as long as I can. But
feel free to pay for it in the App Store if you wish :-)
Cheers, Glen Low
