Totally agree on this point. I think momentum (and friction) is one
thing the iPhone does amazingly well in the interface that has yet to
be duplicated correctly on any other platform. It'd be a shame not
to take advantage here (especially for your example of a large graph).

Fonix was supposed to be creating some sort of voice recognition API
for games on the iPhone, but I don't know any details at all. I
think it is more of a command thing than a voice-to-text thing.
I can envision using this program to create small charts during
research meetings at lunch, where a pen and pencil is cumbersome once
food comes out. Engineers really like charts :) I agree that
viewing already created charts and modifying these charts is probably
going to be a primary use for most.
